The Capitol-inspired Armchair — often known as the Capitol Complex chair — is a modernist icon of teak-and-cane furniture, inspired by the celebrated pieces designed in the 1950s for the government buildings of Chandigarh, India.
Its architecture is unmistakable: bold, compass-like V-shaped legs in warm solid wood, an angled backrest, and hand-woven cane in seat and back. The geometry is graphic and confident, yet the natural materials keep it warm, tactile and inviting.
Built from quality hardwood with genuine woven cane, each chair balances sculptural presence with everyday resilience — cane breathes, flexes gently and only grows more characterful with age.
One of the most collected mid-century designs in the world, the Capitol-style armchair works as a striking desk chair, an occasional chair in a living room, or in pairs flanking a console. Wherever it sits, it reads as a piece with a story.

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the size, weight, and destination of your order — we work hard to keep these as competitive as possible.
Larger items are shipped via pallet freight and delivered to kerbside — the courier will bring your order to your doorstep, garage, or the nearest accessible entrance point. Please note that for insurance reasons, couriers are unable to enter your home or assist with unloading and unpacking. We recommend having a helping hand ready on delivery day. Pallet freight services don't typically offer timed delivery slots or parcel-style tracking. An EORI number may be required for customs clearance.
EU and international orders may be subject to VAT or other local charges. These fees must be paid to release your goods from customs. We have no control over these charges and cannot predict or refund these amounts.
RETURNS
We want you to be happy with your purchase. If you need to return an item, it must be unused, in its original condition, and in the original packaging. Returns that don't meet these conditions may affect your eligibility for a full refund.
Please note that Made-to-Order items — those produced in a specific finish, colour, or fabric to your specifications — cannot be returned.
